Comprehensive Pathways

At Trinity College we provide comprehensive support for our students to choose their learning pathway and pursue their goals.

This support is provided through:

  • One-on-one career/subject assistance for all Years 9 to 12 students to personalise the individual support.
  • School developed career workshops.
  • University visits.
  • Year 10 work experience.
  • Presentations by external businesses and learning institutions.
  • Several pathway sessions throughout the year.
  • Providing access to other learning opportunities (such as Vocational Education and Training course, School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships).

Year 10 Work Experience

Students who are in Year 10 will work with the Careers Officer to arrange their Work Experience Program. This experience is a great opportunity for students to get a first taste of a career route to help guide future decisions, or it can be a way into a first part-time job or even a full-time employment after leaving school.

Careers information will be communicated to students and parents regularly in our College Newsletter.

Vocational Education Training (VET)

VET subjects are increasingly popular options for students in their senior years as they allow students to graduate with a nationally recognised certificate level qualification alongside their VCE or VM Certificate.

Many VET subjects also contribute towards a student’s ATAR score. VET subjects can be undertaken by students in Years 10-12.

Whether students wish to seek full-time employment after they graduate or part-time employment to support themselves whilst they undertake further education opportunities, achieving a vocational qualification can enhance employability.

Trinity College hosts the Colac Otway Vocational Education Cluster (COVEC) Trade Training Centre for Hospitality and Kitchen Operations training on our school site. In addition, we also offer VET Agriculture and VET Sport & Recreation onsite, and partner with other schools in COVEC and other training providers, such as South West TAFE and The Gordon TAFE, to give our students access to a broad range of VET courses.

Courses are offered in the following areas:
